Garden Paintings 2022-2024
Artist and painter, Kathleen Mullaniff, has an obsession which is her garden. An obsession which is at once attached to the envelope her studio. The visitor is invited into the garden, and eventually through a garland of soft summer hues that surround the entrance to her studio. The borders are full of colourful plants now. But cross the threshold into the studio and these same vibrant colours are revealed through lines and marks, in a series of expressive and dynamic paintings on canvas and works on paper. Kathleen collects seedpods, branches, twigs, dried petals and leaves imported into the studio from the garden, the salvaged fragments that form the source for this series of bold paintings. Kathleen's newest work where stepping into the garden, has re-invigorated and affirmed the notion of place, the local close-up, an intimate commune with the joy and melancholy of change, the micro into the macro, William Blake's the ‘world in a grain of sand'—text by Eugene Palmer.
The Whiteley London
The Whiteley, once London's first department store, is reborn as a mixed-use space that serves as a blueprint for future living defined by chic, sustainable luxury and simplicity of purpose.
A historic landmark in Bayswater, The Whiteley has undergone a complete re-imagination, adapted for 21st-century living and life. Alongside the UK's first Six Senses hotel and a wide range of restaurants and retailers, it also comprises 139 residences, including a show apartment by renowned New York-based designer Kelly Behun. It's the first apartment in The Designer Collection, and our team worked closely with Kelly Behun to commission and procure an art collection showcasing local and emerging London-based artists whose practices would complement the sumptuous interiors.
Like the decor, the art is fully bespoke. The collection is sleek and luxurious yet eclectic and personable, focusing on sleek aesthetics and refined practices. All elements together, this carefully curated space tells the story of The Whiteley's location and heritage while putting contemporary creative talent to the fore.
